The pianist
Dr. Michele Cohen is originally from Salvador, Brazil. Her pursuit of excellence brought her to the United States, where she earned a Doctorate in Piano Performance from Indiana University under the mentorship of some of the world's most distinguished pianists.
She has performed at Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall in New York, at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and on the Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center.
The teacher
Her teaching experience spans Indiana University's School of Music and international programs in Beijing, China — more than two decades of helping students grow.
Drawing on the finest methodologies from global piano traditions, she teaches students to play without tension, with focus on expressive dynamics, emotional connection, and artistic interpretation — forging a musical voice uniquely their own.
Lessons incorporate music theory, history, and improvisation. Many of her students have earned scholarships and excelled in professional competitions.
